About Big Bear

About Big Bear Exteriors

A Vancouver–Portland company with a friendly bear on the logo and a clear focus: residential roof replacement.

Big Bear Exteriors

From exterior remodeling to roofing only

Big Bear Exteriors started out handling a range of exterior projects for homeowners around Portland and Vancouver. We’ve since made a deliberate choice to focus entirely on roofing, with residential roof replacement at the center of our work. We still handle the repairs, inspections, gutters, and roofline work that keep a roof performing.

Why narrow down? Because the roof is the part of the house that takes the most punishment in a Northwest winter, and it rewards specialists. Focusing on one trade means every estimate, every conversation, and every project is about roofs: how water moves across them, where it tries to get in, and how the whole system — covering, underlayment, decking, flashing, and ventilation — works together.

The name and the bear stay the same. What’s changed is that when you call Big Bear, you’re calling a roofing company that specializes in replacing roofs.

How we work

What working with Big Bear looks like

Straightforward communication

You know who to contact with questions, and what happens next at each stage of the project.

A clear written scope

Your estimate spells out what is included — covering, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, and any decking allowances — so there are fewer surprises.

Care for your property

Landscaping, siding, windows, and driveways are protected while the roof is being worked on.

Thorough cleanup

Debris is removed and the property is checked for nails and roofing scrap when the work is finished.

Project documentation

Photos and notes of what was found and what was done, so you have a record for your files.

Our process

The Big Bear Exteriors Roofing Process

  1. Step 1

    Book Appointment

Reach out by phone or online form, and our team will schedule an on-site roof estimate at a convenient time for you. We’ll confirm this appointment by text and email.

  2. Step 2

    On-Site Estimate

A roofing specialist will walk your roof, check the shingles, flashing, and ventilation, and take photos of anything that needs attention. We’ll gather measurements and email you a detailed roofing estimate.

  3. Step 3

    Schedule Installation

If you’re ready to move forward with your roofing project, you can accept the estimate online with an e-signature. Once we’ve received your signature, we’ll schedule your roof installation date.

  4. Step 4

    Work Begins

We’ll show up on time on your scheduled service date and install your new roof. You’ll receive follow-up emails and texts to ensure there aren’t any loose ends.
